「香港奇蹟QTS」- First Infotainment TV Program of QTSA on ATV |
|
QTSA jointly launched a TV program 香港奇蹟QTS on Asia Television Limited (ATV) Home Channel every Saturday night from 23 April 2005. This 9-episode series, based on the reputation of Hong Kong as a Shoppers' Paradise, was hosted by the famous ATV artist Mr Kenneth Chan (陳啟泰先生) . As a tour guide in the program, he led 8 visitors or locals, who were contestants in this game show, to visit various tourists' hotspots in each episode. While they had the chance to win attractive prizes sponsored by QTSA member merchants in specially designed in-store games, they could also receive many great shopping tips through the introduction of quality tourism services in the program.
A kickoff ceremony was organized by ATV in Ocean Park on 1 April for announcing program launch. In addition to Mr Kenneth Chan, QTSA Vice-Chairman Mr Brian Li, JP along with many ATV executives and sponsor representatives attended the ceremony during which a tour guide flag was awarded to Ken by Mr Li to signify his mission to lead visitors to enjoy the fun in Hong Kong. The kickoff ceremony also served to recruit contestants joining the game show. In fact, with the keen support of many QTSA members, the contest forms were distributed in almost 1000 retailing and catering outlets in Hong Kong and resulted in great promotion for the show. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude for our members' kind assistance.
The program shooting started in late March. With the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board along with the generous sponsorship of a group of QTSA member merchants, the production was conducted smoothly over the last few months. All sponsors were very supportive in many areas including the arrangement of the venue, game setup, prizes and most importantly, the capacity of creative production for the crew. Since ATV Home Channel can be viewed in 21 cities in Guangdong Province, this program will raise the interest of our potential Mainland visitors and also engrave quality Hong Kong merchants' names in their minds.
This TV program is a milestone for QTSA. We hope that through cooperation with the media, more choices of vivid promotion platforms could be made use of by members under the umbrella brand of QTSA in spreading quality service. |

|
After the implementation of the frequent individual travel scheme taking effect in the mainland, mainland Chinese visitors have added a new momentum to both retail and tourism industries in Hong Kong. In order to help small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) better capture this new market segment, QTSA has collaborated with the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2003 to conduct a survey regarding to the service needs of mainland Chinese visitors. The collaborative effort has been sponsored by Hong Kong Trade and Industry Department.
To provide the firsthand information for trade and media practitioners, a briefing on "Service Needs of Mainland Chinese Visitors" Survey Findings was specially organized on 28 October 2004.
During the briefing, Mr Tony Tse, who is the Project Co-ordinator and represents the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of PolyU, not only presented the background and findings of the survey, but also conducted the question and answer session for the participants with Dr Kevin Wong, who is the Principal Project Consultant and the Associate Professor from School of Hotel & Tourism Management at PolyU.
As the survey found that in addition to price, quality was also an important factor for mainland visitors when shopping in Hong Kong, Mr Tse advised SMEs to compete on "quality" rather than "price" in order to maintain a sustainable advantage.
For detailed information of the survey findings, members can refer to user manuals or click on the related website and VCDs which are scheduled to be released in November. |
