Presentation of Mega Hong Kong Sale and Loan Guarantee Scheme for SMEs Seminar |
To further promote members understanding of the Mega Hong Kong Sale campaign and provide useful information on the
latest Loan Guarantee Scheme for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, BBTS hosted a seminar titled "Presentation of
Mega Hong Kong Sale and Loan Guarantee Scheme for SMEs" on 10 April 2002 at the Hotel Miramar.
The seminar attracted 80 participants and guests from a number of member organisations. Hong Kong Tourism Board,
General Manager Destination Marketing, Mr Lambert Chan was invited to introduce participants the Mega Hong Kong Sale
(later known as "HSBC Mega Hong Kong Sale").

Department of Trade and Industry, Senior Executive Officer, Ms Doris Chow and Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd, Marketing
Manager, Mr Dixon Lu revealed the details of the latest Loan Guarantee Scheme for SMEs. At the end of the seminar,
Chairman of BBTS, Mr Vincent Fang presented souvenirs to the eight sponsors of the BBTS Float which had participated
in the 2002 Chinese New Year Parade.

The 2002 SME Symposium: "Quality Service Key to Success" |

BBTS Honorary Adviser, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, JP was
invited to speak at the opening ceremony of the 2002 SME Symposium.

To help Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) achieve service excellence, BBTS extended its patronage to the 2002
SME Symposium: "Quality Service - Key to Success" - a collaborative effort between the Hong Kong Productivity Council
and the Business Services and Promotion Unit, Commerce Industry and Technology Bureau of the HKSAR Government.
The Symposium was held on 27 September 2002 at the Hong Kong Productivity Council.

Selina Chow, JP was invited as the keynote speaker at its opening ceremony and three BBTS member organisations, On Kee
Dry Seafood Co Ltd, Best Tea House and Rainbow Seafood Restaurant were also invited to share their life experiences
with the participants on how to best promote their business in the area of quality services.

How to Detect Fraudulent Practices |

Commercial Crime Bureau, Detective Chief Inspector, Yu Shi-cheung (left),

To combat the proliferation of fraudulent practice in the service and tourism industries, BBTS organised a seminar on 21 November 2002 at The Sheraton Hotel for members on how to detect fraudulent practices.
Commercial Crime Bureau, Detective Chief Inspector, Mr Yu Shi-cheung and Mr Andy Chau from HSBC were invited to give presentations on detecting forged bank notes, with currencies including the Hong Kong dollar, the
US dollar and RMB, together with Credit Card Fraud Prevention during the seminar.

Ethics Conference for the Travel & Tourism Industry |
BBTS also joined forces with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to host an ethics conference for the Travel & Tourism Industry entitled
"Integrity - Our Winning Edge" at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on 21 March 2003 to provide tourism and service industries practitioners with a better understanding of ethical practices.
At the conference, keynote speeches were delivered by ICAC Commissioner, Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, and the Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, JP. The Chairman of BBTS, Vincent Fang, was also
invited to host a concurrent workshop for retailers. About 250 managerial staff from airlines, hotels, retail outlets and travel agencies attended the conference.
